Yemeni attacks in Red Sea to come with consequences:

“I’m not going to telegraph or preview anything that might happen,” Blinken said in a press gaggle in Bahrain, according to CNN. “We’ve made clear, we’ve been clear with more than 20 other countries that if it continues, as it did yesterday, there will be consequences.”

On Tuesday, the US Navy shot down 21 missiles and drones launched from Yemen, according to a statement from US Central Command, in one of the largest Yemeni attacks to take place in the Red Sea in recent months, CNN reported.

The top US diplomat said that amid the efforts to prevent a regional conflict from spreading, it is “particularly important that we respond when we see something..."

He further claimed hat the threat posed by the Yemeni attacks has drawn together an international coalition to counter it.

“This represents a clear threat to the interests of countries around the world. And it’s important that the international community come together and respond to them,” Blinken said.

The Yemeni military said on Wednesday that it had fired a barrage of rockets, drones and cruise missiles targeting a US ship in the Red Sea in a “preliminary response” to a recent deadly attack by the US Navy that sank three boats and killed nearly a dozen people off the coast of the Arab country.

Earlier on Wednesday, the US military said American and British forces had shot down 18 drones and three missiles launched by Yemeni forces towards shipping lanes in the Red Sea, Press TV reported.

It was the “largest attack... to date” by the forces in the Red Sea, UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said in a statement.

This was the latest in Yemen's retaliatory operations in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid unrelenting Israeli offensives.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.

Reports revealed that Israeli shipping companies have already decided to reroute their vessels in fear of attacks by Yemeni forces.

Yemeni forces have also launched missile and drone attacks on targets in the Israeli-occupied territories after the regime’s aggression on Gaza.
